Jim Tressel enshrined in Ohio Stadium Ring of Honor

Former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel was enshrined into the Ohio Stadium Ring of Honor during the Buckeyes' season opener against Ball State. Tressel, who coached the team from 2001 to 2010 and led them to a 2002 national championship, became only the third coach to receive this honor, joining Woody Hayes and Paul Brown.

The ceremony took place on the field following the first quarter of the game. Tressel, who currently serves as Lieutenant Governor, expressed his gratitude to the crowd, noting that he “probably never dreamed that this day would happen.”

On the field, the Ohio State Buckeyes secured a dominant 56-3 victory. Quarterback Julian Sayin completed 21 of 25 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns, including a rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith recorded 151 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The win also allowed head coach Ryan Day to tie Urban Meyer with 83 victories, placing him fourth on the program's all-time winning list.
