Jimmie Johnson to make final NASCAR Cup start at Daytona 500

Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is set to make his final Cup Series start at next season’s Daytona 500. For his farewell race, Johnson will return to driving the No. 48 car, a number he previously campaigned with long-time sponsor Lowe’s.

Beyond his racing career, the 50-year-old is transitioning into a significant ownership role as the majority owner of Legacy Motor Club. Johnson is currently focused on expanding his team, which includes a strategic group of investors ranging from professional athletes to cultural leaders. He is also working toward announcing a third driver for the 2027 season.
