Jimmy Buffett fans celebrate musical legacy in Florida
Fans of the late singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, known as ‘Parrotheads’, are holding various celebrations to honor his musical legacy. In Key West, the ‘Just a Few Friends’ festival held a five-day celebration over Labor Day weekend, featuring a Second Line Memorial Walking Parade along Duval Street. The procession included fans in tropical attire carrying memorabilia and singing Buffett’s hits.
Additionally, the second annual ParrotPhest is scheduled to return to Fort Myers Beach from October 1 to October 4. Hosted by Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach, the ‘Trop Rock Weekend’ will feature live music, including acoustic classics and steel drums. The event includes a 50/50 raffle to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, following a successful inaugural year that raised $7,000 for the organization.
