Jimmy Cricket funeral to be held at Salford Cathedral

Mourners will gather at Salford Cathedral in Greater Manchester this afternoon to honor the life of comedian Jimmy Cricket. The Northern Irish-born entertainer, known for his signature bowler hat and the catchphrase ‘And there’s more’, died on August 3 at the age of 80 following a brief illness.

His family released a statement describing him as a ‘devoted husband’ and a ‘greatest champion’ who was surrounded by ‘love, laughter and songs’ in his final days. His youngest son, Father Frankie Mulgrew, noted that his father, a devout Catholic, requested the last rites twice, jokingly comparing the request to an ‘encore.’

Cricket rose to prominence in the 1980s through appearances on programs such as ‘The Good Old Days’ and the ‘Royal Variety Performance,’ and hosted his own ITV show, ‘And There’s More.’ His family has invited fans to attend the funeral requiem mass at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate his career and his impact on audiences.
