Jimmy Furian dies six years after being struck by lightning

Jimmy Furian, a 49-year-old man from Stra, has died following a six-year struggle after being struck by lightning. The incident occurred on October 11, 2020, while Furian was arriving at his workplace in Peraga di Vigonza.

At the time of the accident, Furian was 43 years old and working as a courier for an agency serving an Amazon hub. While he was closing the door of his parked car, a lightning strike caused a cardiac arrest and triggered the vehicle's airbags. Although colleagues performed immediate CPR and firefighters managed to restart his heart, the electrical discharge caused irreversible neurological and cardiac damage.

Following the incident, Furian underwent extensive medical treatment and spent years in various healthcare facilities. He passed away on August 1 in a facility in Padova, specifically at the Opera Immacolata Concezione.
