Jimmy Gressier wins bronze in 10,000m at European Athletics Championships
French runner Jimmy Gressier secured a bronze medal in the 10,000 meters at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Gressier finished with a time of 28:07.90, marking his first European track medal at age 29.
Sweden's Andreas Almgren won the gold medal with a time of 27:33.44, followed by Swiss athlete Dominic Lobalu, the defending champion, who took silver in 27:42.67. Gressier secured his podium position by accelerating in the final 200 meters to overtake Italy's Yemaneberhan Crippa.
This bronze medal is the eighth for the French delegation in Birmingham, though the team has yet to secure a gold medal at this competition.
