Jimmy Lynam, Cork GAA legend and All-Ireland winner, dies aged 100

Jimmy Lynam, a prominent Cork GAA figure and two-time All-Ireland hurling winner, has passed away at the age of 100. He was the oldest surviving Cork All-Ireland hurling medal winner.

Lynam achieved significant success on the inter-county stage, winning the Liam MacCarthy Cup with Cork in 1952 and 1953 alongside teammate Christy Ring. His club career was equally distinguished; he won seven Cork Senior Hurling Championship titles with Glen Rovers and a county title with St Nicholas in football. He also secured a Harty Cup title with the North Monastery school.

Cork GAA and his former clubs, Glen Rovers and St Nick's, have issued tributes praising his lifetime of service as both a decorated player and an administrator. A funeral mass is scheduled to take place at the North Cathedral.
