Jimmy Page's purchase of Aleister Crowley's Boleskine House

In 1971, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page purchased Boleskine House, a secluded estate in Scotland overlooking Loch Ness. The property is notable for its historical connection to the British occultist Aleister Crowley, who owned the estate starting in 1899.

Crowley reportedly used the isolation of the property to attempt the Abramelin operation, a complex spiritual ritual intended to facilitate communication with a spiritual guardian. While legends suggest the ritual was left incomplete, leaving supernatural consequences, there is no empirical evidence of such occurrences.

Page’s acquisition of the house was driven by his interest in the occult and his collection of esoteric literature. His fascination with mysticism also led him to open an occult bookstore in London called The Equinox in 1974.
