Jimmy Wales receives international prize at Festival del Pensare Contemporaneo

Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, was awarded the international ‘Pensare contemporaneo’ prize at the conclusion of the fourth edition of the Festival del Pensare Contemporaneo held at Palazzo Gotico.

During his speech, Wales emphasized the importance of community and shared values such as neutrality, openness, and good faith. He noted that Wikipedia is a continuous process where articles are constantly rewritten and that the platform still faces challenges regarding gender and linguistic gaps.

Addressing the rise of artificial intelligence, Wales stated that Wikipedia should neither be swept away by the current nor remain static, but rather learn and change. He highlighted that trust remains central to the community's ability to navigate new technological landscapes.
