Jimoty partners with Japanese municipalities to launch reuse centers
Municipalities in Japan are launching new public-private partnership reuse centers in collaboration with Jimoty Co., Ltd. to promote a circular economy and reduce waste.
In Iwaki City, the ‘Jimoty Spot Iwaki’ is scheduled to open on September 10 in Uchigo Kosaka-cho. The facility allows residents to donate items that are still functional but no longer needed, such as household goods, clothing, and books. While the center accepts a wide variety of items, it excludes large appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators, as well as certain bicycles. The initiative aims to lower waste disposal costs and encourage resource circulation.
Similarly, Ichihara City in Chiba Prefecture will open ‘Jimoty Spot Ichihara’ on September 11. This center will facilitate the community-based exchange of reusable goods through sales or free transfers. The program is designed to make participating in reuse activities more accessible for citizens while supporting the city's sustainability goals.
