Czech towns launch a wave of summer festivals, historic reenactments and wine celebrations

Across the Czech Republic dozens of towns are staging summer cultural programmes. In Mněcko pod Brdy the weekend wine festival offers free tasting, a jazz concert by the Czech Philharmonic Jazz Band and a charity organ‑repair fundraiser. Znojmo’s cultural summer runs from early July with daily concerts, children’s workshops, historic costume parades and a multi‑genre mini‑festival called Playáda. The historic Vinobraní in Znojmo (11‑13 September) features 14 stages, a medieval procession of King Jan Lucemburský’s retinue, concerts by groups such as Rybičky 48 and a fireworks display. Český Krumlov hosts the “Slavnosti pětilisté růže”, a three‑day reenactment of 1586 royal celebrations with knightly tournaments, market stalls and a final fireworks show. Rožmitál pod Třemšínem presents the 23rd “Slavnosti královny Johanky”, including a costumed royal procession, medieval weapon displays and a folk‑song concert. Prague’s Metronome festival expands its line‑up with pop star Jade, shoegaze band Slowdive and country‑cowboy Orville Peck, while the Valašský špalíček in Valašské Meziříčí showcases Irish singer Glenn Hansson and Polish blues. Additional regional events – FM City Fest in Bruntál, Slavnosti pánů ze Sovince, Dívčí Hrad in Jindřichov and numerous music, theatre and outdoor cinema programmes – round out a lively summer calendar that blends wine tasting, historic pageantry and contemporary music for locals and visitors alike.
