Jičín and Starý Jičín host summer music and historic reenactment festivals

The town of Jičín continued its long‑standing music celebration, featuring around 15 bands and solo performers across parks, courtyards and streets. Events included guitar, violin, percussion and a children’s choir, with local groups such as Dumper Rock and performances by Sabina Uxová, Vít Snopek and others. Organisers warned of high temperatures, providing drinking water and shaded areas for attendees.

Nearby Starý Jičín staged a two‑day summer festival on June 26‑27. The programme combined concerts—Koberec, J.S.B., Starojičané, Fleret and more—with a summer‑cinema showing of a Czech remake of “Pyšná princezna”. A highlight was a historical battle reenactment on the medieval castle grounds, depicting a World‑War I‑style assault by Czech, partisan and German forces, complete with rifle fire, grenade explosions and medical treatment. The venue offered shaded shelters, a misting zone, and refreshments, while organisers expected modest attendance due to the holiday weekend and forecast temperatures of up to 35 °C.
