Jindal Steel wins 2026 Steelie Award for excellence in people

Jindal Steel Limited has been awarded the 2026 Steelie Award for Excellence in People by the World Steel Association. The award recognizes the company’s ‘Dakshata Engineering Safety: One Duty Position at a Time’ program, which was announced during the 17th Steelie Awards in New Delhi.

The Dakshata program addresses safety challenges by moving beyond simple attendance-based training to focus on demonstrated readiness. It defines specific safety knowledge, practical skills, and emergency preparedness required for individual duty positions. The initiative uses capability assessments to identify skill gaps and provide targeted training, covering over 27,100 employees across six locations.

At the Raipur Machinery Division, the company utilizes AI-enabled workplace observations, digital risk analytics, and engineered risk reduction. During the 2025–26 fiscal year, the site recorded 17,752 safety observations, mechanized or eliminated 379 high-risk tasks, and improved emergency response times by 15 percent.
