Jindřich Štreit’s 80th‑Birthday Photo Exhibition Opens at Olomouc Museum of Art

Photographer Jindřich Štreit, a former teacher at Palacký University and long‑time cultural organizer, is celebrating his 80th birthday with a new exhibition at the Museum of Art Olomouc. The show, titled “Z města ven!”, presents previously unseen photographs taken in the 1980s in the former Sudeten region, documenting village life, traditions and everyday relationships.

Curated by Štěpánka Bieleszová and Arkadiusz Gola, the exhibition also revisits Štreit’s curatorial work at the former school in Sovinec, where he created a meeting place for photographers and artists from 1974 onward. Štreit described the exhibition as a culmination of his decades‑long activity, noting that the images have never been shown publicly before.
