Jindřichův Hradec pauses underground parking project due to low interest

In Jindřichův Hradec, city officials are facing challenges regarding parking shortages in large housing estates. A completed project for an underground garage in the Vajgar area, which would have provided nearly 100 spaces, has been put on hold. Mayor Michal Kozár stated that interest from residents was minimal, with only nine people applying for the 92 planned spots. The estimated cost was approximately 1,672,704 CZK per space.

Kozár noted that the issue is complex, as residents often prefer free parking, while other areas like the Hvězdárna estate face challenges balancing parking needs with the preservation of green spaces and water retention. Meanwhile, in Most, a new automated system has been implemented at Hněvín to monitor parking availability near the castle. Using cameras and electronic information boards, the system provides real-time data to drivers to prevent congestion near the landmark.
