Jing Yidan, prominent former CCTV host, passes away at 71
Renowned former CCTV host Jing Yidan has passed away at the age of 71. Her daughter, Wang Erqing, confirmed the news via an obituary, stating that Jing suffered an acute cerebral hemorrhage in her hometown of Harbin in June.
Following the medical emergency, Jing was transferred to Beijing for intensive treatment. Despite nearly three months of medical efforts from healthcare professionals in both cities, she ultimately succumbed to her condition. Wang Erqing expressed gratitude to the medical staff and shared emotional tributes to her mother’s sincerity, kindness, and unique personality.
Jing Yidan was a prominent figure in Chinese broadcasting, known for hosting major programs such as ‘Focus Interview’, ‘News Investigation’, and ‘Oriental Horizon’. She notably hosted live broadcasts for significant historical events, including the handovers of Hong Kong and Macau. She was also the host of ‘Yidan Topics’, the first television program in China named after a presenter, and was a multi-time recipient of the prestigious ‘Golden Microphone Award’.
