Jiniya Chatterjee wins sleep competition in India
Jiniya Chatterjee, a resident of Mumbai, has been named India’s Sleep Champion after winning the fifth season of Wakefit’s Sleep Internship. The competition, organized by the mattress and home-furnishings brand Wakefit, awarded Chatterjee Rs 9.6 lakh and a sponsored holiday.
The internship involved 10 finalists selected from over 200,000 applicants nationwide. Over a 60-day period, participants were required to maintain regular sleep schedules, track their sleep quality using provided devices, and aim for approximately nine hours of rest per night.
Beyond sleep consistency, contestants participated in weekly creative challenges. These included “Sleep Cinema,” where participants reenacted movie scenes with sleep-related twists, and “Undercover Sleep Mission,” which required participants to naturally incorporate words like “blanket” or “pillow” into conversations. The finale, titled “Big Bedd,” featured memory and auction-style challenges to determine the winner based on cumulative sleep scores and task performance.
