Jinju City rolls out climate‑resilient agriculture projects and expands drug‑prevention partnership
Jinju City is intensifying measures to build a sustainable agricultural sector and protect residents from heat‑wave risks. The municipality allocated 2.576 billion won to improve greenhouse facilities, support climate‑adapted fruit production and run a farm‑worker safety campaign during the ongoing heat wave. It also secured 5.3 billion won for a small‑scale drainage improvement program aimed at preventing recurrent flood damage on farmland in the Seongsan and Danmok areas, with work slated for completion by 2029. In parallel, the city has strengthened its drug‑prevention and response system by coordinating the police, health centre, education office and medical facilities. Joint meetings, combined inspections and information sharing will support prevention education, monitoring of drug‑related incidents, counseling and treatment referrals, addressing public concerns after drug residues were detected in wastewater.
These initiatives reflect Jinju’s effort to enhance rural livelihoods, improve public safety and address emerging health challenges through inter‑agency collaboration.
