Jinju Taekwondo instructor booked for child abuse
A Taekwondo instructor in Jinju, South Korea, has been booked on child abuse charges after allegedly striking an elementary school student with a mobile phone. The incident occurred on January 29 while the instructor, a man in his 40s, was driving a vehicle to transport students home.
According to police, the instructor reportedly struck the student's head approximately 10 times with a mobile phone after the child allegedly violated a rule against using a phone in the vehicle. The victim sustained head injuries that required medical treatment. Other students, including the victim's older sister, were present in the vehicle at the time.
The incident gained public attention after the victim's sister posted video footage of the assault on social media. The footage reportedly contains verbal abuse and the sound of blunt impacts. The instructor has issued an apology, stating that physical violence against a child is inexcusable regardless of the circumstances.
