Jinmianshan mountain recommended for October holiday hiking

Jinmianshan in the Neihu District of Taipei is being highlighted as a recommended destination for the upcoming October National Day long holiday. The mountain features a unique sandstone geology and served as an important quarry during the Qing Dynasty, providing stone for the construction of Taipei's city walls.

Visitors can explore the historical ruins of the Taipei Quarry and follow the Jinmianshan loop trail starting from the Huanshan Road Section 1, Lane 136 trailhead. The trail offers views of large rock walls and a 360-degree panorama from the summit's Scissors Rock, overlooking the Keelung River and Taipei 101.

Local authorities advise hikers to assess their physical fitness, wear appropriate footwear, and carry sufficient water. Due to steep sections involving rock climbing or ropes, hikers are urged to prioritize safety and avoid taking risks for photographs. Travelers should also monitor weather conditions, as rain can make the terrain slippery.
