Jinming General Manager detained over prohibited military UAV components
Jinming, a company involved in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturing, is under investigation for allegedly using prohibited Chinese-made chips and lens components in military procurement projects. According to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office, the company and its subsidiary, Ingseng International, submitted false certificates of origin to the military to pass inspections.
Following a search by the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau, the company's General Manager, Jian Haoting, was detained without bail on October 9. Prosecutors have charged Jian and another individual with violations of the National Security Act, as well as fraud and the use of false documents. The company's Chairman, Tsai Hsiang-feng, was released without bail and is currently acting as the interim General Manager.
Jinming stated that the investigation has not had a significant impact on its overall financial or business operations. As of September, UAV-related defense orders account for approximately 1.1% of the company's total revenue, while its primary business remains hardware stamping molds at 85.8%.
