Jio Platforms IPO sets global record with over 1 crore applications

Jio Platforms, the digital and telecommunications arm of Reliance Industries, has set a global record by becoming the first public offering to attract more than 1 crore applications. The IPO, which ran from October 21 to October 23, 2026, surpassed previous records held by Waaree Energies, Bajaj Housing Finance, and BCCL.

The issue, valued at approximately ₹30,213 crore, was heavily driven by Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), who subscribed their portion significantly more than other categories. Total demand, including anchor investors, reportedly crossed ₹6.5 lakh crore. The IPO consists entirely of a fresh issue of 27 crore shares, intended to fund future expansion and strategic initiatives.

Investors are now awaiting share allotment on October 26, with the official listing on the BSE and NSE scheduled for October 28, 2026. Market analysts noted that the Grey Market Premium (GMP) has been reported between ₹232 and ₹250 per share, suggesting potential listing gains for investors.
