JioStar CEO Kevin Vaz addresses media industry shifts at FICCI FRAMES 2026

At the FICCI FRAMES 2026 summit in Mumbai, JioStar CEO Kevin Vaz emphasized that the Indian media and entertainment industry is shifting from a focus on distribution to a focus on capturing attention. Vaz stated that in an era of infinite content, “attention is the new currency,” and the industry's primary challenge is creating content that can make a viewer “stop.”

Industry data indicates that the Indian media and entertainment sector grew by 9 percent in 2025, reaching Rs 2.78 lakh crore. Within this growth, digital content surpassed Rs 1.1 lakh crore, and live events saw a 47 percent increase. Vaz noted that television, streaming, mobile, and connected TV are not replacing one another but are instead converging to create new opportunities. He highlighted that while digital consumption is accelerating, linear television remains deeply embedded in Indian households.

The event also included a moment of silence to honor the late Leena Jaisani, former Deputy Secretary General and Head of Media & Entertainment at FICCI.
