JioStar expands Indian satellite reach and launches anti-piracy drive

JioStar has entered into a multi-year satellite distribution agreement with SES to expand its television channel portfolio across the Indian subcontinent. The partnership will utilize the SES IS-20 satellite, supporting both C-band and Ku-band services to reach cable, DTH, and broadcast distribution networks in cities and remote communities.

Simultaneously, JioStar is intensifying its anti-piracy enforcement in Odisha. The company has filed multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) against local cable operators in districts such as Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Puri, Jajpur, and Keonjhar. These legal actions follow allegations of unauthorized retransmission of JioStar channels, including Star Plus and Star Sports, through unauthorized networks and the use of consumer DTH set-top boxes.
