Jireh Rehabilitation Clinic in Tijuana suspended by authorities
Authorities in Baja California have indefinitely suspended the operations of the Jireh Rehabilitation Clinic in Tijuana, a facility linked to the group known as Patrulla Espiritual. The suspension follows a sanitary inspection by the State Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (COEPRIS), which identified regulatory non-compliance, deficiencies in care conditions, and irregularities regarding patient consent mechanisms. Officials also reported the presence of an armed individual acting as a guard at the facility.
The intervention, which involved over 200 agents from various security forces including the Mexican Army, Navy, and National Guard, was prompted by the recent death of an inmate. Two men have been formally charged in connection with the homicide, where the victim reportedly died of asphyxiation during an attempt to subdue him.
During the operation, 84 patients were relocated. According to the state government, 73 individuals were transferred to other centers to continue their treatment, while 11 left voluntarily with family members. The facility remains sealed while the State Attorney General's Office conducts ongoing investigations.
