Jiul Petroșani supporters to back U Cluj against Corvinul Hunedoara

Supporters from Jiul Petroșani have announced they will support Universitatea Cluj during their upcoming match against Corvinul Hunedoara at the ‘Petre Libardi’ arena. Although Corvinul is the designated home team for the fixture, the Jiul Petroșani community has extended a warm welcome to the Cluj-based club.

Local fans cited a deep historical connection dating back to 1919, noting that both clubs share the same black and white colors. The supporters described the hosting of the match as a ‘sacred link’ carved into Romanian football history, stating that the miners' arena will serve as a home for the visiting team.

The gesture highlights a complex rivalry landscape, as Jiul Petroșani fans maintain a friendship with U Cluj despite the historical competition between the two clubs.
