Jiyo Parsi scheme sees 534 births since 2014-15
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju informed the Rajya Sabha that 534 children have been born within the Parsi community since 2014-15, signaling progress for the ‘Jiyo Parsi’ scheme. The government has allocated 37.43 crore rupees toward the initiative to stabilize the community’s declining population.
Since 2013, 582 individuals have received financial assistance under the medical component of the scheme for infertility treatments, conception, and postnatal care. Additionally, 1,055 people have received aid through the ‘community health’ segment of the program since 2018-19.
Funding for community health has seen a steady increase, with 2.53 crore rupees spent in 2023-24 and 2.66 crore rupees in 2024-25. The government continues to conduct workshops, registration drives, and awareness campaigns through Parsi newspapers to increase the scheme's reach.
