JJ Wetherholt activated from injured list by St. Louis Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals have activated rookie second baseman JJ Wetherholt from the 10-day injured list. Wetherholt's return comes ahead of the team's game against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.
Wetherholt had been sidelined since August 30 due to right wrist tendinitis, missing 15 games. During his 130 games this season, the 24-year-old has maintained a .242 batting average with 17 home runs and 48 RBI.
To accommodate Wetherholt on the active roster, the Cardinals designated infielder Ramon Urias and pitcher Peter Strzelecki for assignment. Wetherholt's return is viewed as a significant boost for the team as the MLB season enters its final stretch.
