J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inspects Kheer Bhawani Mela site

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the Kheer Bhawani temple in Ganderbal district to review preparations for the annual Kheer Bhawani Mela scheduled for June 22. He inspected facilities, spoke with priests and local officials, and said any pending works would be completed before the festival, which is expected to draw more than 7,000 Kashmiri Pandit devotees from across India and abroad.

Abdullah also referred to the upcoming Amarnath pilgrimage, noting that the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board bears primary responsibility while the state government will provide support. He addressed local irrigation concerns, pledging additional ministerial visits, and mentioned the construction of Pandit colony accommodations in nearby districts. The chief minister appealed for prayers for peace and communal harmony in the region.
