JKR innovation products commercialized to boost Malaysia's global ranking
Approximately 14 innovation products developed through the Public Works Department (JKR) Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention have been successfully registered and commercialized. An additional nine products are currently undergoing the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) enhancement process.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Maslan stated that all inventions from the convention must be patented and commercialized to improve Malaysia’s standing in the Global Innovation Index (GII). He noted that Malaysia currently ranks 34th most innovative in the world and aims to climb higher by learning from top-ranking nations such as Switzerland, Sweden, and the United States.
The KIK JKR Convention featured 54 entries from JKR Headquarters, State, District, and the Engineering and Technology Excellence Centre (CREaTE), covering both management and technical categories.
