JKUAT student dies after convulsions in Juja, Kenya

Police are investigating the sudden death of a fifth‑year health sciences student from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) who collapsed with convulsions while asleep at his rented unit in Skyline Apartments, Juja, Kiambu County.

The incident occurred in the early hours of July 28. After the student began convulsing, his girlfriend and other residents summoned help and rushed him by taxi to St. John’s Hospital in Juja, then to Thika Level 5 Hospital, and finally to Kalimoni Mission Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was transferred to the Kenyatta University mortuary pending a post‑mortem. Investigators noted a prior history of convulsions and have found no evidence of foul play, classifying the case as a sudden death.
