Július Satinský: Remembering the life of the iconic Slovak actor and comedian
The life and legacy of Slovak actor, comedian, and writer Július Satinský have been commemorated following the recent milestone of his 85th birthday. Satinský, widely recognized for his role as Dr. Albert Horák in the comedy ‘S tebou mě baví svět’, passed away in Bratislava on December 29, 2002, after a battle with cancer.
Reports indicate that Satinský’s cancer diagnosis was discovered incidentally while he was accompanying his brother to a medical appointment. Despite his public persona of optimism and humor, he fought the disease privately for nine months. His wife, Viera, a psychiatrist, faced the personal challenge of supporting him while working in oncology.
Colleagues, including actress Jana Šulcová, have shared memories of his professionalism and cheerful nature. Šulcová noted his ability to maintain a positive attitude even during difficult filming conditions, recalling how he would work extra hours translating text to ensure he remained financially stable during productions.
