JLN Transport deploys first Iveco S-eWay electric truck in the Netherlands

JLN Transport, based in Etten-Leur, has become the first company in the Netherlands to deploy the Iveco S-eWay, a fully electric heavy-duty truck. The vehicle will be utilized for grocery distribution services for Lidl.

The S-eWay features a 603 kWh battery pack, which the manufacturer claims provides a range of up to 600 kilometers. Its powertrain, developed by FPT Industrial, utilizes an eAxle with two electric motors that deliver a continuous power of 653 hp and a peak power of up to 1,142 hp. The truck's design includes a redesigned, more aerodynamic front end to improve efficiency.

JLN Transport's decision to transition to electric transport was driven by the need to meet sustainability requirements from clients, the rise of zero-emission zones, and increasing truck levies. The company noted that they waited for battery range technology to reach a level that would not disrupt daily operations. This move aligns with Lidl's accelerated goal to transition its Dutch distribution fleet to entirely electric vehicles by 2027.
