Jānis Citskovskis attributes JKP election struggles to low funding

Jānis Citskovskis, the prime ministerial candidate for the New Conservative Party (JKP), has attributed the party's potential failure in the 15th Saeima elections to insufficient funding and a late campaign start.

According to data from the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau, JKP spent approximately 14,000 euros during the pre-election period. Citskovskis noted that this funding was several times lower than that of larger parties, which significantly limited the party's ability to utilize advertising and other communication channels.

Citskovskis also suggested that the party struggled to reconnect with its former voters due to disappointment following its 2018 election performance and lingering associations with previous leadership and unfulfilled promises. While the party initially aimed for 2% of the vote, current exit polls suggest a rating of around 1%. He stated that any result below 2% would be considered unsatisfactory, though final results are pending the completion of the vote count.
