JNJ registers 12 candidates for ONPE leadership competition
The Junta Nacional de Justicia (JNJ) has registered 12 applicants for the public competition to select the new head of the Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales (ONPE). This marks the second attempt to fill the position after a previous selection process failed to result in an appointment.
The vacancy follows the resignation of Piero Corvetto in April, which occurred after delays in opening polling stations in Metropolitan Lima. The current selection process, designated as Convocatoria N.° 006-2026-SN/JNJ, will consist of four eliminatory stages: knowledge testing, curriculum review, a work plan presentation, and a personal interview. To advance, candidates must score at least 70 out of 100 points in each stage.
The JNJ is currently verifying the documentation of the 12 registered professionals to ensure they meet the established requirements. The list of qualified candidates is scheduled to be published on September 28.
