Jönköping Green Party proposes new four-party coalition

In Jönköping municipality, the Green Party (Miljöpartiet) has proposed a new governing coalition following the recent election. Mats Weidman, the lead negotiator for the Green Party, suggested a partnership consisting of the Social Democrats, the Centre Party, the Green Party, and the Christian Democrats (Kristdemokraterna).

This proposed alliance would control 43 of the 83 seats in the municipal council, providing a majority. Weidman noted that while the previous 'Samverkan för Jönköping' coalition—comprising the Social Democrats, Centre Party, and Liberals—is dissolving, these four parties share common ground on social issues such as schools and elderly care, as well as traffic strategy and urban environment programs.
