János Csank: A look at the career of the former Hungarian national team coach

János Csank, the former goalkeeper for clubs including Ózdi Kohász, Debreceni USE, and Egri Dózsa, achieved significant success as a football manager in Hungary. His coaching career highlights include leading Eger SE to the NB I division in 1983 and winning the Hungarian People's Republic Cup with Békéscsaba in 1988, where his team defeated Budapesti Honvéd in the final.

Csank also had a defining period with Vác, where he led the club to its first and only championship title in 1994, following several runner-up finishes in both the league and the Hungarian Cup. For his achievements, he was awarded honorary citizenship by Vác and received the Master Coach distinction from the Hungarian Football Federation in 1995.

In 1996, Csank was appointed head coach of the Hungarian national team. His tenure lasted 19 matches, ending after the team's performance in the 1998 World Cup qualifiers, specifically following heavy defeats against Yugoslavia.
