János Kulka debuts new appearance amid acting comeback

Hungarian actor János Kulka has debuted a significantly different appearance, featuring long, bushy grey hair and a full grey beard. The 67-year-old, a recipient of the Kossuth and Jászai Mari Prizes, was seen in a new photograph posted by the National Theatre of Pécs alongside colleague Éva Vári.

It is currently unclear whether this change in appearance is a personal choice or intended for a specific role. Kulka has recently returned to the stage at the National Theatre of Pécs, performing the role of the butler Firsz in Chekhov’s ‘The Cherry Orchard’, marking a significant return ten years after suffering a stroke.

Despite dealing with aphasia resulting from his stroke, Kulka continues to take on artistic challenges. Director László Csuja noted that the screenplay for the upcoming film ‘The Last Outlaw’ was specifically written to accommodate the actor’s condition, ensuring his lines are natural and authentic to his current speech capabilities.
