Jo Failer discusses living with early-onset Alzheimer's
Jo Failer, an advisor for the German Alzheimer Society and ambassador for the DZNE Foundation, has shared his personal experience living with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
Diagnosed at age 52, Failer described the period leading up to his diagnosis as a time of intense uncertainty. Initially, his symptoms—such as losing his train of thought and forgetting essential information—were attributed to burnout or depression. He noted that while the diagnosis was a shock, it provided a sense of relief by confirming that his cognitive struggles were a medical reality rather than a personal failure.
