Joaçaba: Car swept away by Rio do Tigre located

A Volkswagen Golf that was swept away by the Rio do Tigre during heavy storms on Friday, September 11, has been located in Joaçaba. The vehicle was found on Sunday, September 13, partially submerged on an island near Rua Roberto Trompowsky, a significant distance from where it originally disappeared.

The recovery operation involved the Fire Department, Military Police, and local companies providing towing services and heavy machinery. Using steel cables and a hydraulic excavator, crews successfully lifted the vehicle from the water.

The car sustained severe damage due to the force of the current and submersion, resulting in a total loss. A solidarity campaign has been organized to assist the owner, a commercial representative who was traveling for work during the flood, to cover recovery costs and provide financial support following the loss of his primary work tool.
