Joaçaba City Council CPI Calls for Indictment of 11 Individuals

The Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (CPI) of Joaçaba's municipal council concluded its investigation into alleged misappropriation of public funds covering 2017‑2025. The final report, read by councilor Jean Calza and approved unanimously by the three members—president Diego Bairros, relator Jean Calza and councilor Pedro Pereira—contains more than 20 recommendations aimed at strengthening internal controls and preventing future irregularities.

The CPI recommends the indictment of 11 people and two financial institutions linked to suspicious bank movements. Councilor Bruno da Espada, identified as the server responsible for the irregular transfers, is to be charged with intentional wrongdoing. The remaining ten individuals, including former mayors, municipal secretaries and senior financial officials, are suggested for culpable (negligent) charges. The committee did not disclose the total amount of diverted resources.
