Joachim Herrmann to decide political future in 2027
Joachim Herrmann, the long-serving Interior Minister of Bavaria, has indicated he has no immediate plans to retire upon turning 70. A member of the CSU, Herrmann has held his position for nearly two decades.
Regarding his political future and whether he will run in the next state election, Herrmann stated he intends to “decide in peace” in the summer of 2027. He noted that his decision will involve consultation with Minister-President Markus Söder, the CSU Middle Franconia district association, and his family.
Herrmann highlighted several evolving security challenges that he believes require continued attention, specifically citing cybercrime, drone technology, and the activities of the AfD.
