Joachim Meyerhoff withdraws from Burgtheater production

Actor and bestselling author Joachim Meyerhoff has withdrawn from the production of ‘König Ubu’ at the Burgtheater in Vienna due to health reasons. Meyerhoff, 59, stated in a communication from the theater that he is unable to work in the manner he requires or that such a vehement role demands.

The theater intends to proceed with the scheduled premiere on October 16. To accommodate the change, Stefanie Reinsperger, who was originally cast as Mother Ubu, will take over the role of Father Ubu, while Sebastian Wendelin will step into the role of Mother Ubu.
