Joakimfest awards Grand Prix to National Theater of Subotica
The 21st Joakimfest International Theater Festival in Kragujevac has concluded, with the Grand Prix ‘Joakim Vujić’ for best overall production awarded unanimously to ‘Trilogija Leman’ by the National Theater of Subotica. Directed by Igor Pavlović, the production was praised by the jury for its innovative artistic excellence, rhythmic direction, and its ability to depict the complexities of a banking family across generations through a minimalist yet emotionally profound staging.
Additionally, the City of Kragujevac Special Award for original concept and dramaturgy was presented to the production ‘Četiri zida i krov’ by Lina Maždalani and Rabi Mruea. This work utilized documentary and archival materials regarding Bertolt Brecht to explore themes of belonging, emigration, and political violence. The festival featured five competing productions from Germany, Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
