Joan-Carles Martí calls for democratic coexistence in Valencia

Joan-Carles Martí, director of Levante-EMV, discusses the responsibilities of political candidates and the importance of democratic coexistence in the Valencian Community. He emphasizes that while elections determine who governs, they also serve as a test for how a society chooses to live together.

Martí argues that winning an election allows for the implementation of a program, but governing requires recognizing that the country belongs to all citizens, including those who supported the opposition. He calls for candidates to demonstrate the character to accept defeat, acknowledge the successes of adversaries, and reach agreements even when they are not immediately popular with their followers. He stresses that the true test of democracy occurs the day after the vote, when there is an obligation to respect collective decisions and maintain social cohesion.
