Joan Laporta criticizes Real Madrid's transfer strategy

Ahead of the upcoming El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has criticized Real Madrid’s recent transfer strategies and management. In an interview with L’Équipe, Laporta suggested that Real Madrid has taken the wrong path by spending massive amounts on expensive individual players who have not delivered expected results.

Laporta specifically commented on the acquisition of Kylian Mbappé, stating, “You cannot have more than one rooster in the same coop; it never works.” He emphasized that football priority should be the collective team spirit and synergy, noting that Barcelona’s strength lies in combining La Masia academy talents with players from diverse footballing cultures under the guidance of coach Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco.

Additionally, Laporta addressed the Negreira case, accusing Real Madrid of spreading falsehoods regarding the matter to distract from their own issues. He claimed that Real Madrid has lost credibility and is attempting to justify their position through misinformation.
