Barcelona president reveals failed pursuit of Lautaro Martínez

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that the club attempted to sign Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martínez during the summer transfer window. Laporta revealed that he personally contacted Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta to express his admiration for the Argentine striker and his desire to bring him to Camp Nou as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

According to Laporta, the pursuit ended abruptly when Marotta informed him that Martínez was not for sale and that the player would not be the one to decide his future. Laporta stated that he ceased all negotiations out of respect for Marotta and the Italian club.

In addition to the Martínez pursuit, Laporta discussed the club's interest in Cesc Fàbregas, noting that while the club closely follows the manager's success with Como, there are no immediate plans to change the current coaching staff led by Hansi Flick. He also touched upon the club's historical involvement with the Super League and expressed his ambition to win another Champions League title.
