Joan Manuel Serrat highlights Viana, Spain, as his favorite location

Renowned singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat has shared reflections on his life and his deep connection to the town of Viana in Navarra, Spain. Serrat has visited the medieval municipality since the age of 13, a tradition started by his mother. In recognition of his ties to the area, he was named an honorary citizen of Viana in 2014.

Viana is a historic town located on the Camino de Santiago, characterized by its medieval walls, Renaissance architecture, and vineyards. The town features significant landmarks such as the Church of Santa María de la Asunción and the ruins of the Church of San Pedro.

At 82 years old, Serrat also recently addressed social views on aging. A prominent figure in the Nova Cançó movement, he has spent six decades influencing Spanish and Catalan music, known for his social critique and for bringing poetry to mass audiences.
