Joan Mir joins Gresini Ducati team for next MotoGP season

Spanish rider Joan Mir will leave the Honda factory squad and move to the Gresini team, which fields a Ducati as a satellite outfit with direct factory support. Mir said he was convinced after watching Marc Márquez revive his career with Gresini, as well as the progress of Álex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio in the same colours.

He acknowledged that the switch will likely mean a significant pay cut, but views the move as the best sporting option to revive his competitiveness before his career peaks. Márquez endorsed the decision, noting the team’s recent successes and the guarantee of performance it offers.

The transfer is set for the upcoming MotoGP season, with Mir aiming to become competitive again under the new package.
