Joan Mir joins Gresini Racing MotoGP from 2027

World champion Joan Mir will leave Repsol Honda at the end of 2026 and ride a factory‑spec Ducati Desmosedici for the satellite BK8 Gresini Racing team beginning in the 2027 MotoGP season. The Spanish rider signed a two‑year contract through 2028. Gresini also confirmed Moto2 prospect Dani Holgado, the 2025 Moto2 Rookie of the Year, as Mir’s teammate for 2027, marking the grid’s first rookie signing for the new season. Outgoing Gresini riders Alex Márquez will move to a factory KTM seat and Fermín Aldeguer will join the VR46 squad. Team owner Nadia Padovani said the new lineup “aims to rediscover his best sensations and make the most of his potential,” while Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna described the partnership as “a relationship built over time, based on shared values.” The changes come as MotoGP prepares for a new Concorde Agreement and an 850 cc technical reset.
